Uwiringiyimana Pascasie is a Mastercard scholar who is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Rwanda/College of sciences and technology. After realizing that there are people in her home district Rusizi that can’t afford health insurance fees, she decided to do something to make a positive impact on them.

“FAWE Rwanda empowers us so that we give back to community, it is in that line that I called friends to join me to start a charity group.’’ -She says.

Alongside other 9 classmates and a mentor, Pascasie initiated a charity group to help vulnerable families. They had ideas without funds but they did not let down the idea. She and her friends contributed to raise funds, they saved money from their university allowances.

They raised 102,000frw that they used to pay health insurance (Mutuelle de santé) for 34 people in Rusizi district, Geheke sector.

Pascasie says that the group is not going to stop charity activities since there are still people who need support because to give back to the community is their core value.
