I am called Ruth Iracyadukunda, I am from Eastern Province, Rwamagana District, Muyumbu Sector, Nyarukombe Cell.

When I was a young, I had a dream of becoming an important person in society like being a physician, entrepreneur or a politician.
I started primary school with these ambitions and even in secondary school, I did not deviate on my dreams. But to obtain school materials was not easy. I always had to get out the class when Headmaster came because I had not paid school fees.

We are a family of seven ; parents and five siblings. Really my family is poor, to satisfy ourselves is a big problem.Despite of this condition I did not lose hope, I kept pushing.
In the end of 0’ level, I sat for national exams like others. Before doing exam, I came to know that FAWE Rwanda in partnership with MasterCard foundation pays school fees for girls who performed well in national exam. I applied but I wasn’t sure that my application would get through.

When a new academic year started ; I went back to school after that my father sold a portion of land in order to afford school materials. Few days later, I was called by FAWE that I was selected to benefit from MasterCard scholarship. It was a happy day for me.

They paid all school materials including books and pocket money. FAWE does not only help me but also my family as they save what they should have been spending on me.
I completed my secondary school, now I’m doing Biology and Chemistry with Education in University of Rwanda/ College of Education.
I have no way I can thank FAWE Rwanda and MasterCard foundation except saying that they took me from the darkness now I am enjoying the light.
No more worries about my future, no more struggle to get school materials, my future is very bright.
